To familiarise you with the personal and professional skills necessary to be an effective manager and to identify and analyse the key qualities of effective leadership

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this section, you will be able to:

  1. Identify and explain the 5 functions of the management process

  2. Critically analyse the characteristics of good leaders

  3. Describe the 3 main styles of leadership

  4. Differentiate between the roles of a leader and manager and examine how both roles are linked

  5. Describe the different levels of management and analyse the tasks  allotted to each level

  6. Discuss the characteristics of effective management
